Although this survey course concentrates on economic analysis, its objective is to offer key fundamental concepts and methods in economics to students with significant professional background. Its intensive content is tailored for an audience with demanding work schedules. Once you have grasped these principles, you should not only be able to follow the examples discussed in class and events referenced in the news, but also to reason in terms of this framework on your own. The integration of analysis and applications serves to strengthen your skill in decision making and help you formulate best practices.

This course is divided into two parts: micro- & macroeconomics. Microeconomics is concerned with small-scale economic issues, such as profit of a firm or competition in an industry. Topics to be covered include demand and supply, elasticity versus revenue, and pure versus imperfect competition. Macroeconomics focuses on large-scale issues in the economy, such as the business cycle or money supply. The following three areas are to be explored in sequence: economic measurement, AD/AS framework, and macroeconomic policies.

教授介绍

Prof.Yvonne Chen：美国雪兰多大学商学院副院长、教授。陈院长已任美经济教授超过25年, 并曾在亚洲担任大学教授, 并获多所大学颁授卓越教学奖。曾任商学院研究院总监, 在北弗吉尼亚开设分校, 引入视频远程会议技术，发展在线课程, 并将入学人数提高到顶峰。研究领域及学术期刊发表包括研究东亚和东南亚、拉丁美洲、东欧和南欧的经济体系。获德保罗大学颁授“全国大学学者联谊会杰出会员终身成就奖”及雪兰多大学的“威尔金斯奖”。兼任咨询顾问。
